The Dybbuk

The Dybbuk on September 24, 2016 in Palo Alto, CA : The Oshman Family JCC will present the West Coast premiere of an acclaimed new production of The Dybbuk, a multimedia chamber opera composed by Ofer B en-Amots, inspired by S. Ansky's timeless Yiddish play, and directed by Thomas Lindblade. Soprano Ronit Widmann-Levy returns to the stage for this vivid opera, in which a young woman near death awakens to the undertone of a clarinet. She must choose between life with a man she does not know or death with her beloved, who has possessed her as a “dybbuk,” a deceased soul who takes up residence in a living body. Folk elements intertwine with contemporary music to create a captivating world, while multiple video projections help share a powerful story of faith, mysticism, and passion. The Dybbuk will be presented in both English and Hebrew with supertitles. The Oshman Family JCC will present the West Coast premiere of an acclaimed new production of The Dybbuk, a multimedia chamber opera composed by Ofer Ben-Amots, inspired by S. Shame is the embodied belief that "something is wrong with me." Many clients—and therapists—are not aware of how unhealed shame can keep body and emotions frozen. Because shame exists in the body as well as the mind, it is helpful for therapists to work with shame somatically. In this workshop, we will explore how to utilize somatic techniques to connect more quickly and forge a therapeutic alliance with clients.
Preregistration with Marin CAMFT is necessary. For pricing and full details, visit the Events page at www.marincamft.org or www.marincamft.org/event-2270674.
For more information, visit our website at www.HealingShame.com. You can also check out two free 1 1/2-hour Healing Shame webinars available on the Resources page.
