This week we continue to do exercises where we recognize how our mind is doing. How do we create stories about life events or ourselves and is there a need to "change our mind"?
We will start with gentle qigong practices to open our headspace. We stop to look into what is our story today and then continue to work with bija syllables to connect and release our patterns of thinking. Finally we surrender to deeply relaxing sound sanctuary.

Lucent Dossier Experience

lucent

Lucent Dossier Experience on August 13, 2016 in Los Angeles, CA : The Lucent Dossier experience is an interactive avant-garde performance collective based out of Los Angeles whose show blends the arts of dancing, acr obatics, and fire with live music. While Lucent Dossier's sound is rooted in down-tempo electronica, their performance transcends genres and instruments culminating in something extraordinary.
Rob Garza first stepped onto the scene as one of the founding member of the Thievery Corporation. Today, the Washington, D.C. native finds his home in San Francisco, where he produces his unique style of worldly influenced House music. With the start of his own Magnetic Moon Records label in 2015, Garza continues to break the confines of genre with eclecticism, as will be evident in the distinct flare of his set at Avalon on Saturday.
The mysterious UK duo, Psychemagik, are highly revered as prolific curators of sound and transcendent mixtapes. Their music is often described as multi-faceted and psychedelic grooves. Psychemagik's first appearance on vinyl was an edit of Fleetwood Mac's “Everywhere,” which they followed with another edit of Fleetwood Mac's “Dreams.” They boast an extremely rare and vast collection of records, and have earned support from artists such as 2 Many DJs, Q-Tip, Fake Blood, and many more.
With such a diverse billing, it will be difficult to find a finer lineup this Saturday in Los Angeles. Join Avalon as we welcome Lucent Dossier, Rob Garza, and Psychemagik to the Hollywood stage for an exceptional night of performance.

The Red Demon

The Red Demon on October 27, 2016 in San Francisco, CA : San Francisco's Theatre of Yugen gives American audiences their first look at The Red Demon, a modern drama by one of Japan's most acclaimed playwrigh ts, Hideki Noda. A mysterious stranger is instantly labeled a demon when he washes up on the shores of a small beach town following a violent storm. Unable to communicate with the wary members of the close-knit community due to a language barrier, he struggles to face life as a persecuted pariah while maintaining his own identity. The Red Demon made its English debut at London's Young Vic theatre where it was declared a “physical spectacle” and “elegantly expressive” by The Guardian. With a stylized approach that takes audiences on a wild ride from the height of slapstick to the essence of Grecian tragedy, The Red Demon lays bare the conflicts that arise when humanity must confront its instinctive fear of the alien. Theatre of Yugen has assembled a multi-lingual cast for the production, which will be directed by Theatre of Yugen Artistic Director Nick Ishimaru.

About the Sound Bath
The term Sound Bath was first coined a few years back by musicians or possibly sound healers who took instruments and immersed the audience in this sound for relaxation and stress relief.
It was found that specific instruments coupled with energetic medicine knowledge created conducive vibrations to provide ease of tension and deep relaxation. Deep relaxation is a per-cursor to health and healing and allows the individual to release patterns of tension, trauma and stress that create illness.
Science has long known about brainwaves—patterns of electrical activity generated by the billions of neural cells in the human brain. Different levels of consciousness generate brainwaves at specific frequencies. More recent discoveries have shown that when people listen to sound vibrations and rhythmic sounds matched to a particular frequency, their brainwaves begin exhibiting the same frequency. This process is called “brain entrainment,” and it's how we harnesses the power of the mind to help heal the body.
The idea that sound affects the health ...read more
