Christine de Pizan, who lived in the late Middle Ages (c 1365-1430), was born of Italian parents but brought up at the French Court in the late 14thc. Her story is unique. A combination of life's vicissitudes and her own talents and determination led her to become the first woman to earn her living by her pen. MARY LANDOR, art historian, will present a short bio and then read some excerpts of her writing with relevant illuminations accompanying the excerpts.
